Wayne Phillis Automotive Website Case Study

When Wayne Phillis Automotive came to us in 2011 to re-design their website, we gladly took up the challenge. Their previous site was very dark and the structure was a little confusing, with so much going on with multiple menus and links everywhere, and pages within pages of information.

Some of the most important, above the fold*, call to action buttons were missing and what they did have at the top of the page just didn't make sense to take up so much room, such as the social media links on the right and the enews subscribe box, when there is far more important information that should be here.

When re-designing the website, we had to take into consideration what people are searching for when visiting the Wayne Phillis website. When we analysed the Google analytics reports, we identified the top ten visited pages, and it was vital to have these pages easily accessible immediately to all visitors who landed on the home page.

The new website design is rich with information, but in an uncomplicated way. The colours are light and draw the reader's attention to specific call to action buttons such as new and used car makes and models, next to the slideshow on the home page. A new tag cloud was used on the right column to help users find their way to the car or features they are looking for.

We also identified some key facts about the Wayne Phillis Automotive Group which we wanted to highlight, such as "25 years in the industry", "family owned and operated", "numerous positive testimonials" and "Adelaide based". These words are very powerful for visitors to see immediately, as often they make a judgement on a company or brand's reliability, credibility, customer service satisfaction and location within a short time frame.

We added contact forms on each page, for visitor's ease of use.

We added a mega drop down menu at the top of the page and a static menu at the bottom so that all featured pages are accessible from both menus.

We also branded the Wayne Phillis Automotive Twitter, Facebook and Youtube pages to carry over a consistent branding message.

We are really proud of the design of the Wayne Phillis Automotive website and would like to thank the Team including Sam and Wayne for trusting us and our vision. We are sure that they will see the benefits of the new site design and layout immediately.
